Changes to income assessment for disability pension

See information in English below.

Gildi is now required to take full account of payments from the Social Insurance Administration (TR) when disability pension from the fund is calculated. The impact on disability payments from Gildi varies from person to person. Most of those receiving disability payments from the fund will not be affected, but if payments change, the member concerned will be notified specifically.

The change will not affect disability pension payments from the fund to members except in cases where the person's total income is now higher than it was before becoming disabled.

Why are these changes being made?

A legal provision that prohibited pension funds from taking into account general increases in income from TR when calculating disability pension payments has been repealed. As a result, the general rules of the Pension Funds Act and the fund's own articles of association now apply to the calculation of disability pension.

When and how?

Income assessment is carried out quarterly and looks at average income over the preceding 12 months. This change may affect the income assessment for the disability pension payment in December 2025 and will then be phased in quarterly over the next 12 months, until full account is taken of income from TR.

Further information?

Members who are affected are encouraged to contact the fund for further information, and to update their income estimate with TR.
