Gildi – Pension Fund is Iceland’s third largest pension fund, with approximately 40,000 paying members and 180,000 members with rights in the fund. The fund has 29 employees with many years’ experience and extensive knowledge in the field. As of 31 December 2014, net assets for the payment of pensions were ISK 371,3 bn.
Gildi overtook the assets and liabilities of Lífeyrissjóður Vestfirðinga (Westfjords Pension Fund) on 1 January 2015 when the fund was merged with Gildi.
The fund operates one age-related mutual insurance division and three private supplementary divisions.
The Financial Supervisory Authority is the regulatory body responsible for monitoring the operation of the fund, in addition to internal and external auditing by a third party.
